OPINION
Newcastle United attacker Ayoze Perez has more often than not this season been criticised by a large number of fans but he can silence the doubters by wowing against Arsenal.
This was particularly the case in the first-half of the season for the 25-year-old as many Magpies fans on social media did tear him apart in games against the likes of Southampton, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and even with the clash with the Gunners earlier in the season.
Yet in the weeks ahead of the international break, Perez looked to be playing to best of his ability and seemed to have impressively completely turned his form around in order to be a dependable member of Rafa Benitez’s side.
Perez’s stats in front of goal have also notably improved as the attacker has scored three while assisting one in his last five outings.
The player’s numbers in front of goal aren’t the only thing to have improved as while the player did always work hard, his efforts are starting to pay off as when he is tracking back he actually making a difference.
Perez seems to have established a good rapport with Salomon Rondon and Miguel Almiron in order to dramatically up his game and against Arsenal he must complete the impressive turnaround to silence the doubters.
The 25-year-old’s form has always been a bit of a rollercoaster ride with huge highs then disappointing lows; and he finally needs to prove this improvement in his displays is here to stay.
Arsenal are the ideal side to prove that against.
This is because one of Perez’s worst displays this season was against the Gunners as during that match, he was so wasteful in possession, if Benitez would have hooked him at half-time no one would have been surprise.
It’s also the perfect clash as the Gunners are one of the perceived big boys in the Premier League as they currently sit fourth and are in a good run of form.
With this in mind if Perez can prove himself on Monday, no one will question his talent for a while.
