Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons has been making the most of his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday recently and the Magpies shouldn’t be ready to wave goodbye so quickly as a result.

The 23-year-old left-sided winger joined the Championship side on loan in January and has impressed in his eight league outings, by contributing a goal as well as an assist while constantly looking like an attacking threat.

While Aarons may have struggled for a few seasons now to look worthy of a place in Rafa Benitez’s side, it doesn’t mean that at the first sign of good form, the club should cash in.

Yet according to the Chronicle  the Magpies have already made a decision regarding the winger’s chances at the club as they will offer Sheffield Wednesday the chance to sign him in the summer.

It makes sense that after struggling for a while the Magpies want him off their books, but their quickness to make a decision puts them at risk of making a blunder especially after Owls boss Steve Bruce gushed about him.

“He’s improving and that can only go game by game,” Bruce said, as quoted by The Star.

“He’s done well the lad, really good lad, wants to do well, wants to enjoy it, plays with a smile on his face. It’s good to see.”

The experienced manager knows talent when he sees it and he believes Aarons is improving game to game, maybe the Magpies should see what level his performances can reach before acting.

The 23-year-old was once deemed good enough to play 27 times for the Magpies’ first-team so is it not possible he could become that good again?

Also Bruce remarks about Aarons playing well with a smile on his face, perhaps inadvertently suggests that he is a confidence player.

Aarons’ rise to prominence then huge drop in status to being surplus to requirements no doubt hit his confidence and was a factor in his poor form, so surely it’s worth seeing if his new found belief in himself is here to stay.

If the Magpies do end up selling Aarons and his resurgence just keeps going, then perhaps it won’t be long until they will regret getting rid of him as he could end up being seen as a player good enough for them.
