Manchester United attacker Romelu Lukaku may as well just crawl into Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles’ pocket now in order to save time.

Man United are set to host the Magpies at Old Trafford on Saturday and it’s clearly that the 6ft 2in tall forward (Source: Transfermarkt) will have no luck getting the best of Lascelles in his upcoming outing.

This is because Lukaku submitted yet another gutless display this season during his side’s 0-0 draw with Valencia on Tuesday.

When the forward wasn’t stumbling over his own feet doing the world’s most awkward stepovers, he was barely moving or showing any determination to force a breakthrough for his side.

Man United struggled to create clear-cut chances for their leading man and he showed nowhere near enough courage to stand up and being counted.

Lukaku could have used his strength and respectable pace to make things happen, instead he stood upfront looking like he didn’t have a care in the world and he will no doubt take a similar approach when his side face the Magpies.

Lascelles may not be in the best of form like a lot of his teammates, but he arguably has been one of the positives of this season so far, as he has submitted at least a few displays he wouldn’t mind re-watching.

The 24-year-old could probably go toe-to-toe with an in-form Lukaku, who would actually run at him, but given the Belgian international’s current form then the Magpies defender will hardly have to break a sweat to keep him at bay.

Lascelles will flourish playing against a forward, who won’t even attempt to give him the run around, and this means that Lukaku might as well just give up the goose now and admit defeat.

While the Magpies’ ability to score is still a worry, given Lukaku’s recent woeful display, it means he won’t be a threat at least so Lascelles will no doubt be able to help ensure his side register a clean sheet on Saturday.
