It’s been clear for a while that Aleksander Mitrovic doesn’t feature in the plans of Rafael Benitez and a host of sides are reportedly keen on the Serbian international, who is seeking first-team football ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
However, a move for the 23-year-old has not yet materialised as Benitez would prefer to secure a replacement before approving his departure. Unfortunately, financial restrictions make that difficult and Newcastle should now bite the bullet.
A fee of around £15m is likely to be raised with the sale of Mitrovic and that would provide a significant boost for Newcastle, handing money for Rafael Benitez to invest.
