Newcastle United are set to push ahead with their January transfer activity as they seek to bolster their squad before next week’s transfer deadline.

Rafael Benitez’s side finally secured the serviced of Brazilian youngster Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea yesterday but the Spaniard is not done, as he seeks a new striker and a new goalkeeper to improve his squad.

Movement now appears to be made on the latter, as The Chronicle report Newcastle will make another bid to Sparta Prague in their attempts to sign Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

The Magpies have already seen one loan approach rejected by the Czech side but Benitez is keen to continue in his quest to lure the experienced stopper to Tyneside, as he seeks to provide further strength between the sticks.

Neither Rob Elliot or Karl Darlow have managed to cement themselves as first-choice at St. James’ Park this season and a move for Dubravka would strengthen Newcastle in a key area, whilst it would also likely allow youngster Freddie Woodman to move away on-loan to earn valuable experience.
