Emerging as the prime striking target for Newcastle in recent days, and the man likely to become the club’s most expensive ever recruit, the Magpies know what they need to do in order to complete a deal and must be shrewd.
Two initial bids have been rejected by Feyenoord, who are believed to be holding out for a fee of around £22m for the Danish international, and Newcastle must be prepared to pay what it takes to bring Nicolai Jorgensen to the Premier League.
With just 22 goals scored in 23 games, Jorgensen would provide an immediate improvement as he is currently enjoying a fine run of eight goals in ten matches. If he were to replicate that form in the Premier League, then Newcastle’s survival hopes would be significantly boosted.
