Newcastle United are set for a busy end to the January transfer window, as Rafael Benitez looks to bolster his side with additional recruits before the market closes on Wednesday.

The Magpies’ only recruit in January so far is the capture of Brazilian starlet Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea until the end of the season and Benitez is looking to add at least two more players to his ranks before the mid-season window closes.

One of those areas where he is eyeing improvements is between the sticks and The Chronicle reports that Sparta Prague have given Newcastle two options if they intend to complete a deal for Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

One option is to pay a £1.25m loan fee, with a £4m obligatory clause inserted to make the deal permanent in the summer, whilst the second sees Newcastle have to pay considerably more to land the 29-year-old but the permanent fee is optional.

That second option would cost Newcastle £2.2m upfront, with £3.2m payable if the Magpies wanted to make a deal permanent in the summer. Putting the two calculations together, it will either cost £5.25m or £5.5m to complete a deal.
