Newcastle United are poised for a busy end to the January transfer window and the next few days look set to be crucial.

Rafael Benitez has already bolstered his side with the addition of Brazilian starlet Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea until the end of the season but he’s seeking at least two more recruits before Wednesday evening’s deadline.

The Sun states in it’s printed edition on Friday that Newcastle are hopeful of concluding a club-record deal for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen, as the Magpies intend to bring him the North East for a fee of around £18m.

Jorgensen is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League, following the return of Robin Van Persie to his boyhood side last week, and the Danish striker wants to conclude a deal quickly in order to settle ahead of the World Cup.

It’s also reported that Newcastle have agreed personal terms with the 27-year-old Eredivisie winner worth £50k-a-week, as they seek to bring in the striker to improve a forward line which has scored just 22 goals in 23 matches this season.
