The January transfer window has entered it’s final few days and Newcastle United find themselves with plenty to do in the market, having only managed to secure the services of Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea thus far.

Rafael Benitez is determined to add at least two more names to his squad with January additions and reports have suggested that Mike Ashley has reduced the financial restrictions in the market, with the Magpies now ready to smash their 13-year-old transfer record.

That record currently stands at the £16m Newcastle paid Real Madrid for Michael Owen in 2005 and could be shattered in the coming days, though the Magpies will need to be quick to secure their deals ahead of a crucial period in the season.

The Magpies face stern tests in the weeks ahead against relegation rivals Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, along with mammoth clashes against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, so there is no room for Benitez to slip.

As such, deals need to be concluded quickly and Newcastle should look to wrap up agreements for this trio by the end of the weekend.
