Newcastle United outcast Achraf Lazaar is, according to Italian outlet Primocanale, a target for Serie A side Geona.

The Moroccan international joined the Toon Army little under a year ago from Palermo, though struggled to make an impact under Rafa Benitez in the Championship last term. Indeed, the 25-year-old made only four appearances in all competitions last season, with Paul Dummett operating as the first-choice left-back.

The Magpies will presumably need to sell before they can buy again as they currently have a massive squad so interest from I Rossoblu could prove helpful to the transfer cause on Tyneside. The Italians are reportedly monitoring his situation in black and white and Lazaar himself is said to be open to a move over to Liguria.

It’d be a shame to see his bromance with DeAndre Yedlin ended so soon, though it’s fair to say the Morocco man has flopped since arriving. Quite what the problem has been isn’t quite clear but surely he’s one of the most expendable in the squad as Benitez looks to trim the fat.

Just a year into a five-year contract, Newcastle will be in a strong position when it comes to negotiating.
