Newcastle are hoping to offload Aleksandar Mitrovic to Lyon.
According to a report on TalkSPORT a fee of £16m has been quoted for the striker who joined Newcastle from Anderlecht two years ago for a similar fee.
Mitrovic scored six Championship goals for Newcastle last season and had to settle for the role of back up to Dwight Gayle.
With a step up in quality required for the Premier League and Newcastle making a bid to bring in Tammy Abraham on loan it’s obvious that Mitrovic doesn’t feature in Rafa Benitez’s plans for the new season.
The Serbian striker managed slightly better than a goal every second game for Anderlecht but never looked like reproducing that form as Newcastle were relegated or in the fight for promotion.
Lyon are in the market for a striker after selling Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal but are likely to be looking at other options before considering a move for the out of favour Newcastle forward.
