Newcastle United forward will not be offered a new contract, according to the Shields Gazette.

The 24 year old’s current deal expires at the end of June, and with manager looking to reshape his squad ahead of the new season, the Slovenian international looks set to be released on a free transfer.

Vuckic joined from NK Domzale in 2009 but during his eight years on Tyneside, he made just 19 appearances for the first team with injuries and spells meaning he spent much of his time away from the Newcastle first team squad.

Earlier this season, the attacking midfielder was loaned to Bradford City, where hes scored four goals in 14 matches, but after returning to St James’ Park in January, he has failed to feature in a single first team match day squad.

He has played for Peter Under 23 side this campaign but it’s been known for some time that the player was surplus to requirements at the club. The biggest indication came earlier this year when he was allowed to join FC Twente on trial, but a move to the Dutch side didn’t materialise. He is now set for a return to the continent for the start of next season.
