Uche-NwoforNewcastle United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to Uche Nwofor, who is seen by many as the next Christian Benteke.

According to the Daily Star, VVV Venlo striker Uche Nwofor is attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League and the Magpies are thought to be leading that.

While moves for Gomis, Remy and Bent have failed to materialise as yet, Newcastle are desperate to bring in a striker before the start of the season.

21-year-old Uche Nwofor currently plies his trade for VVV Venlo and has impressed in Dutch football in recent years.

Although VVV got relegated from the Eredivisie last season, Nwofor netted 10 goals and already has an international cap for Nigeria to his name.

Standing at over 6ft tall and with a fair bit of pace, Nwofor has been compared to Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke who had a storming first campaign in the Premier League last season, as the Belgian international scored 19 top flight goals.

It would be a bit much to expect Nwofor to be as successful as that, but as the video below shows, the Nigerian certainly has plenty of ability.

Here’s Nwofor in action…

After two years in Dutch football and a disappointing relegation, Nwofor may well be looking to move on and could be available for as little as £3 million.

Could Newcastle swoop for the Super Eagle, or rather than the next Benteke should the Magpies be looking at Christian’s Aston Villa teammate instead?
