Newcastle flop XiscoNewcastle United have made some pretty bad signings over the years, something that Graham Carr has managed to drastically reduce in his time at the club, but if you need a reminder of how bad things were before he arrived, then one mega flop provides that: Xisco.

Incredibly, Xisco is still a contracted Newcastle United player. You might find that hard to believe given that he’s hardly pulled on a black and white shirt over the past four years, but the Spaniard is still a Newcastle player, technically at least.

When Newcastle signed Xisco for £5.7 million from Deportivo in the summer of 2008, he promised great things as a Spanish U21 international. However, he’s failed to deliver any of those and I’m pretty sure the conditions that could have seen his fee rise to £7m haven’t been met, or are even close to being met.

26-year-old Xisco has played just nine Premier League matches for Newcastle, scoring a measly once, and has spent more time on loan in Spain, his homeland, than in Tyneside.

One season with Racing Santander was followed by 18 months back at Deportivo, but despite helping them get promoted back to La Liga as champions, they still haven’t shown any interest in signing him.

Newcastle have been doing their best to offload Xisco but just can’t manage to do it. There’s even been talk of shipping him off to Rangers if Mike Ashley secures a relationship with the Scottish club.

The fact is that the Spaniard is now almost worthless, as shown by the image below that was taken from TransferMarkt and Tweeted by @PanicAtTheXisco:

Xisco transfer value

I doubt anyone would even pay £875,000 for Newcastle’s mega flop now!

Let’s not forget that Xisco was brought in by Dennis Wise (after watching You Tube video’s of the player) who was an appointment of the Fatman,

If Fatman wants this bloke off the wage bill then how about paying off his contract from his own sizeable fortune ? After all he was the one who gave Wise the job in the first place !!
