So, Joey Barton is on the cusp of a Newcastle exit, with the midfielder having undergone a medical at QPR. However, the deal is not yet done and you can still do your utmost to persuade Barton to stay at St James’ Park, or on the other hand convince him to leave if you want to see the back of him.
The odds are on Barton leaving Newcastle, but you never know, Alan Pardew might yet make a last ditch attempt to keep him. This is what Joey Barton had to say on Twitter earlier this afternoon: “Need some thinking time and space……………” So he hasn’t yet made up his mind, but I’m going to give you an opportunity to do just that.
So this is your forum. Leave your comments below as to what you’d say to Barton to get him to stay at Newcastle. Bearing in mind comments from previous Barton articles, there are a fair few of you that wouldn’t mind seeing the back of him too, so you can air your feelings as well.
As for what I’d say to Barton. Well, I’d like him to stay for the immediate future, as although he brings a lot of bad press to the club, he is a quality player who is 100% committed every time he steps onto the pitch. So I’d say: “Joey, stay for one more year, then if you want to leave next summer then at least you’d have done everything you could for the club.”

On one hand Joey has been offered a chance to play for a up and coming team and on the other hand he can play for a team he loves and cares for. problem with Newcastle is Ashley will not offer a new contract otherwise QPR would not have been given the chance to talk to him. either way hes going to be under a great manager, QPR wont be the end of the world for him.

Joey mate we all know the crack with Ashley and the idiots we are stuck with running this club and I wouldn’t blame you for wanting to leave but we need players like you to stay a float this season and I personally along with probably every other die hard toon fan want to see you play week in week out, you’ve given a lot to the club and you’ve gotta think if Ashley sells (as we’re all hoping for) at least if we get someone in that actually knows how to run a club properly the first thing they will do is renew your contract, stick it out with us ha-way the lads.
Listen lads, you just went a goal down to Scunthorpe with your full strength team bar Joey. I would worry about your team and stop slagging off QPR. Not too long ago we were selling you our best players (Ferdinand, Peacock) now we are buying your best. Times change and looks like Simpson might be on his way soon too, maybe. Deal with it, looks like you might not have as amazing a season as you think and we may well finish above you!
Respect to the Toon army though, spent 3 years up there and it is a great city with great fans, it is not London though is it!!!

Just because you av a bigger ground than us mate doesnt mean to say ur fans are more passionate about ur team than we are of ours, CMON ur point is nonsence.
Pub teams have passionate fans. That doesn’t make them big clubs. At least if Joey does get a contract with you, he’s guaranteed 3 seasons in the premiership. Autumn, Winter and Spring. Sorry, couldn’t resist that one (copyright someone else 2005)!
I think it’s pretty obvious that Joey does not want to leave Newcastle, and I think it would be fantastic if he had defied the board and stayed until his contract expired, if he plays like he did last year it will not be a problem for him to find a bigger club than QPR next year if he would like to leave NUFC then and is not offered a new contract. Not only would it excite me as a fan but it would also make mike ashley tear his hair out 😉 so Mr.Barton.. what do say? Stay? You know that’s what you want so just do it!

i think joey should take a long good look at himself, qpr and toon fans both want the best for their team and he shouldn’t be using their clubs to generate abetter deal .the man has no class.he should make a descision and fast.
Joey, I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide. Those who say you have been agitating for a move are entitled to their opinions, but I notice that Milner, Keegan, Hughton, Carroll, Nolan, Enrique – as well as yourself have found that – when it comes to contracts/agreements – what the club claimed to have offered wasn’t what was put on the table. I don’t think for one second you could all be wrong.
Ashley, LLambias won’t be there forever. You’ve had the courage to stand up to them and are paying the price for it. They are cowards who do not understand what the club means to the fans NOR what the fans mean to the club.
Keep your nerve, keep your head down and give us geordie fanatics a final 12 months to remember.
You’ll then either get the contract you merit from the club or will have proved all the doubters wrong. You have let people wind you up and do the wrong thing too many times. Don’t make the same mistake again.

Pretty obvious to everyone that he is using QPR to get a contract at Newcastle-which is what most QPR fans had realised anyway !-(not that they wouldn’t want him to sign though) far more likely that Shaun Wright Phillips will sign for QPR instead-IMO.
