So, Joey Barton is on the cusp of a Newcastle exit, with the midfielder having undergone a medical at QPR. However, the deal is not yet done and you can still do your utmost to persuade Barton to stay at St James’ Park, or on the other hand convince him to leave if you want to see the back of him.
The odds are on Barton leaving Newcastle, but you never know, Alan Pardew might yet make a last ditch attempt to keep him. This is what Joey Barton had to say on Twitter earlier this afternoon: “Need some thinking time and space……………” So he hasn’t yet made up his mind, but I’m going to give you an opportunity to do just that.

As for what I’d say to Barton. Well, I’d like him to stay for the immediate future, as although he brings a lot of bad press to the club, he is a quality player who is 100% committed every time he steps onto the pitch. So I’d say: “Joey, stay for one more year, then if you want to leave next summer then at least you’d have done everything you could for the club.”

Crikey, a comment that actually has some thought behind it! Nice one Russell. Truth is, I don’t particularly want him at QPR. If a player signs for us, I want it to be because they WANT to – not because we’re the only ones willing to take him on because his own club doesn’t want him. We don’t really need midfielders anyway…now Danny Simpson..can’t we have him instead?? Only joking of course! Great player though.
