As the January transfer window continues to frustrate on Tyneside, there have been some pretty interesting reports from the Daily Mail

They’ve claimed that the Magpies have cast keen eyes over the situation of Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic this season, reportedly weighing up a £6m bid for the Croatian. They, along with North East rivals Sunderland are understood to be keen on the 22-year-old following his impressive return to form for the Hoops.

After injury problems and a failed move to Torino, he’s been a big part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans in Glasgow and Toon flop Grant Hanley has recently been linked with a move away to Wolves, potentially opening up a space in central defence.

However, the Bhoys are believed to want to keep a hold of the former Dinamo Zagreb man and can offer him league titles, as well as Champions League football of course. Crystal Palace are another said to be keen on the imposing central defender, though the Hoops, presumably, aren’t under much pressure to sell unless a huge bid comes in.
