Jarrod Bowen news: Newcastle United’s recruitment team ready to table offer for Hull City man

United’s apparent interest in a move for Hull City ace is fast-becoming somewhat of a saga. Indeed, the Telegraph reported late last week that the were ready to table an offer to the forward but have since suggested those behind the scenes at St. James’ Park had been put off by his £22m pricetag.

However, the Northern Echo have claimed today that the 23-year-old remains Steve Bruce’s priority target this month and that the club’s recruitment team WILL table an offer for him in an attempt to strengthen their frontline during what remains of the January transfer window.

Averaging far more shots per game than anyone in squad at the moment (3.5, via WhoScored), the 16-goal marksman looks a prolific option, even if he is playing in a lower league. Granted, he is not a central striker – the position in which have struggled the most for goals this season – but could provide more to the overall balance of the side.

41% of Newcastle’s play this season has come down the left-flank, an area dominated by Saint-Maximin. Indeed, the team have won just once 12 games without the Frenchman this season, compared to 7 in 11 with him on the pitch, so moving to bring more firepower on the other side of the pitch – where only 35% of action has come – could help address any lop-sided over-reliance.

Given that Bowen is a natural right-winger and one who looks to be a serious goal threat, any move for him could well be worth it.
