Matt Ritchie’s return to full fitness at Newcastle United has been far from quiet. Perhaps that was expected from a man George Caulkin described as a ‘wee radgie’ but, even by his standards, it’s fair to say he’s made quite the impact.
Indeed, the former Bournemouth man set-up two of the goals during the Magpies’ FA Cup rout over Rochdale during his first start in months before going viral with his celebration amid the Toon’s dramatic late win over Chelsea when he infamously kicked a corner flag into a fan.
Throw in the fact that the Chronicle also recently suggested he’d agreed a new deal in principle on Tyneside and it’s been quite a few weeks for Ritchie, who was the subject of a number of photos posted by the club on Twitter. During training at Benton, the club’s social media team snapped the 30-year-old seemingly wrestling with Karl Darlow, hugging Jamaal Lascelles and even trying his luck in goal.
