Isaac Hayden has certainly had a mixed season to say the least but can’t be faulted for the amount of effort that he has put in for Newcastle United when called upon.

The 24-year old will almost certainly be leaving the club in the summer, after he told The Times that he needs to find a place for his daughter “to settle down and have a happy home environment and not be moving around too much” back in March.

After the final whistle against Fulham was blown, Hayden took to social media to send a message to the Newcastle faithful from his personal Twitter account, saying: “I haven’t been on here since my last tweet.

“I can’t thank you fans enough for the support you have shown me over the season. I hope I made my mistake up to you guys and whatever the summer brings. It has been a pleasure to play for Newcastle United and for you.”

Although the player has his various reasons for leaving St. James’ Park, this simple message on social media will have gone a long way in the eyes of a Newcastle fan and has surely established him as a cult hero on Tyneside.

Reaching out to supporters of the club directly is the perfect way to leave, if he does, and the 24-year old will be remembered fondly by the Newcastle fans after for the professionalism he has shown.

Hayden’s form in the Premier League improved drastically in the second half of the season, and it comes as a great shame that he may have to leave the club in this way at the end of what has been a roller-coaster career in a black and white shirt.

The midfielder will no doubt go on to have a successful spell with whichever club he decides to move to for his next challenge, and although his time at St. James’ Park hasn’t all been plain sailing, the fans of the club certainly seem to appreciate the effort that Hayden has shown.

It wouldn’t be too surprising for the player to send another similar farewell message in the coming weeks once his future is decided, considering the Premier League season has now concluded and Hayden will no doubt be looking for a new club to call home for the foreseeable future.
