Newcastle United have been linked with numerous signings for the summer and the latest one has caused great confusion amongst many fans who don’t believe what they’re seeing. Benfica star Rafa Silva’s agent has confirmed to Portuguese radio station Renascenca’s Bola Branca show, that the Portuguese winger has sparked interest from Newcastle who are interested in bringing the 25-year-old to the club for next season. The only negative part of the deal would be the reported £51.3million release clause, big money that Newcastle are reluctant to spend if previous years are anything to go by. Fans reacted to the release clause specifically on Twitter with one fan claiming: “Never happen in a million years, maybe if his buy-out clause was £6m”. Another went on to say: “That rules us out then”. With Newcastle’s transfer record spend being the £21million that was spent in January on Miguel Almiron, there fans are right to approach this link with caution instead of excitement.
