With the Bin Zayed Group poised to reportedly take over at Newcastle United, many rejoiced as Mike Ashley’s tenure a the club could eventually come to the end after a spell of ownership covered in turmoil.

The BZG group had been reported by the Sun to have place an offer of up to £350million to take over which they confirmed in a statement on Monday.

Nothing is ever that straight forward at Newcastle though and the takeover saga is still ongoing later in the week with The Sun now claiming that Ashley is willing to play the long game in the deal and could pull the plug at any point – this could be a massive risk and something that could be a huge deal-breaker to any party involved.

The Magpies faithful will be biting their nails with every update and it is understandable with Ashley already reported to have pulled the plug on a previous attempt to buy the club from Amanda Staveley in 2017. This time around it must be different and the controversial North East figure must allow this major move to go through in order for the club to flourish.

There is no chance that Ashley can continue to move the club forward without controversy and having an owner that has wanted to sell their club for years just proves that they don’t want to be in a position to succeed at the top of the chain.

It is time to move on and put the Newcastle fans out of their misery and to definitely stop playing a game of cat and mouse before risking a collapse in any potential deal.
