Rafa Benitez must heed Jamie Carragher’s verdict on Newcastle United attacker Miguel Almiron as he pinpointed the problem that is holding him back from wowing even more than he has.

The Sky Sports pundit, during the Magpies’ 1-0 win over Leicester City, shared that he thought the 25-year-old needed to be more composed when on the ball as currently he was doing everything at 100mph and that was causing him to mess up his final ball.

“He just needs to act some composure to his game at times Almiron,” said Carragher while on commentary during Newcastle’s win over Leicester City (21:24, Friday April 12th, Sky Sports Premier League).

“He does everything at 100mph and it affects his finish, his last pass.”

It’s fair to say Carragher is spot-on with what he noticed about Almiron as the attacker does seem to be a victim of his own speed at times.

In the clash against Leicester on Friday, the Magpies 25-year-old was a handful for the Foxes as he constantly ran at them with his blistering pace and got into positions which would have left them sweating.

However at times during the match Almiron let himself down with his passing and his finishing, as he seem to rush and ended up not striking the ball cleanly.

The 25-year-old looked desperate to register his first assist or goal for the Magpies and you feel that he is trying too hard and rushing what he does as he so keen to get off the mark.

Yet this desire and speed is what is stopping him from flourishing in front of goal and Benitez needs to have a word with him in order to calm the player down as well as try to ease the pressure he is clearly putting on himself.

If the manager does that then you feel Almiron will be more composed on the ball and soon rack up the goals, as he proved he had ice in his veins more often than not when featuring for Atlanta United last season.
