It’s easy to forget that midfielder Henri Saivet is still technically a Newcastle United player, and it’s absolutely vital that the club finally get rid of him this summer.

The Senegal international was brought to St James’ Park in 2016 but did very little to make an impression on Tyneside. However, he is still contracted to the club until 2021, as per Spotrac.

Now, though, the Magpies might have their chance to part ways with him. Turkish outlet BursasporLuyuz reported that Bursaspor, where the 28-year-old is currently out on loan, want to build their team around him for the remainder of the season.

Earlier in the campaign Saivet wasn’t doing much in Turkey, however in recent weeks he has emerged as a central figure for Samet Aybaba’s side.

With Saivet’s loan side seemingly so infatuated with the player this summer is the ideal time for Newcastle to move on from the former Bordeaux man for good.

In previous transfer windows the Magpies have struggled to shift Saivet because he had shown so little with the Magpies or in his other loan spells with Saint-Etienne and Sivasspor. This time round, though, he has excelled and has drawn the admiration of his loan club, if not some other teams.

Ultimately there is a reason why Newcastle bought Saivet in the first place and so there’s clearly talent within him somewhere. That should, after the season he’s had, be enough for Bursaspor or someone else to make a serious move for him at the end of the season.
