Newcastle United must attempt to sign left-back Rogerio from Juventus in the January transfer window – it’s no secret the club are in need of reinforcements in this area.

Rogerio is currently on loan at fellow Serie A  side Sassoulo and according to Sky Italia, Wolves have made a bid for the 20-year-old’s services recently.

This is a race that the Magpies must join, especially with cover at left-back looking so painfully thin at the moment – after all, Paul Dummett is the only quality player arguably left in this position.

The young ace’s future is to be decided by the Italian giants as he has not yet made an appearance for the first team, but this should not matter to Newcastle, as the youngster has been impressing on loan at Sassoulo.

He has made 17 appearances in the top-flight this season – hence establishing himself as the club’s first choice left-back – and with his future essentially uncertain at Juventus, it could not be a better time to swoop for the young ace.

Rogerio is unlikely to break into the first team anytime soon at Juventus – after all, just take a look at the quality they already have – so Newcastle would no doubt be the ideal destination for him.

Wolves’ need for a left-back is not paramount seeming as they already have Jonny Castro and Ruben Vinagre competing for the role, so it is unlikely that he would receive much game time if he were to move to the Molineux.

However, he would be handed a lot more game time at Newcastle, especially when Dummett is rested.

This is something that may tempt Rogerio away from moving to Wolves, and Rafa Benitez must ensure that this edge is used to the best of their advantage.

He is the manager’s ideal signing – so Newcastle must join the race for him as soon as possible.
