Newcastle United attacker Salomon Rondon has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash against Leicester City, according to reliable journalist.

Lee Ryder of the Chronicle reported via his personal Twitter account that the forward, who earns £60,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), would not be available to feature against the Foxes due to a thigh injury.

Rondon joined Rafa Benitez’s side in the summer and started his side’s last league game against Crystal Palace.

OPINION

This is the last bit of news Benitez needs ahead of his side playing Leicester City as the Magpies are struggling for goals as it is. Rondon may not have registered a league goal for his so far but it’s clear that given the right opportunities he could be a prolific force for the club. However until he starts scoring regularly than supporters will be sceptical about whether he can deliver the goods at St James Park. Rondon only managed to get 17 touches of the ball during the 0-0 draw with Palace last weekend before being hooked at half-time and is no doubt frustrated with how he has started life at the club. The Magpies will now need to rely on the less-than-prolific Joselu who despite being a hard-worker for the team, just isn’t the lethal finisher he needs to be. Hopefully the Foxes, who have started the season well, aren’t on their best form as without Rondon in the team then you wonder how the Magpies will be able to find the goals to beat Saturday’s opponents.
