A section of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter after it was revealed that the club are to battle it out to land Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter before the deadline tomorrow (9 August).
On Tuesday night, journalist Tom Barclay – who reports for the Sun – revealed on his personal Twitter account that United are in the hunt for the 28-year-old Cherries’ enforcer along with the likes of Cardiff, Stoke and Middlesbrough.
Understand Cardiff are keen on Bournemouth's Harry Arter, who is believed to be also attracting interest from Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Stoke. But #afcb are happy not to sell and would demand a fee of over £10m. Arter wants first-team football this season

The three clubs are prepared to pay the £10 million price tag slapped on Arter’s head, who is on £40,000 a week [Spotrac].
This news has left a section of Magpies’ fans not convinced that the club can land the Republic of Ireland international, especially now deadline day is looming. These comments included “can only see a swap” and “we won’t get him.”
Nothing but Newcastle has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Would like it, decent player but it won't sadly.

Can only see a swap with Hayden but can't really see that being likely.

OPINION
The news that Newcastle are facing a last-minute battle to sign Arter has left a section of the United faithful unsure if they are capable of landing him. Even though they are facing competition from two Championship sides and a club that has been recently promoted, they are still not convinced that their club will secure the capture. Time is fast running out, which is undoubtedly another reason why the fans do not think they will sign him. However, they are firmly in the running as it stands, and there is no reason why Arter would not opt to join Newcastle at this moment in time – if anything, the lure of playing for a side who finished tenth last season puts them in good contention.
