Newcastle United have confirmed that the injury suffered by right-back DeAndre Yedlin during their opening day loss to Tottenham on Saturday is not serious, and many fans have taken to Twitter to react with delight at the news.
As reported on the club’s official website, Yedlin has been assessed this week and undergone treatment, with the USA international flyer expected to be able to train with the squad shortly.
Many fans have now reacted with delight on Twitter after concerns grew this week that Yedlin would be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up some of the best tweets:

Yedlin news is amazing.
Whats more amazing is the sheer trepidation and concern over the state of his injury.
Shows how absolutely threadbare and exposed we are

The outcome of Deandre Yedlin’s injury is huge, and we’ve only played one game. A sign of how decimated we are in terms of squad depth.
We know who’s fault that is. Top 17 on a profit the aim. No more.— NUFCThreatLevel (@NUFCThreatLevel) August 15, 2018

OPINION
As pointed out by all of these fans, this is massive news for Newcastle. Yedlin is a key part of this Magpies defence and the lack of quality cover for him was ruthlessly exposed by his opening day injury. The thought of having either Javier Manquillo and Jamie Sterry at right-back obviously does not breed confidence among Newcastle fans, and having Yedlin back in training will be a huge boost. That being said, the worry still remains about defensive injuries for Rafa Benitez, with concerns over Yedlin really driving home their lack of depth in wide areas at the back. Furthermore, it is still likely that the USA international will not play a part against Cardiff this weekend despite returning to training shortly, and that will probably see Manquillo given the nod to play. The Magpies should be able to survive one or two games without Yedlin, but a swift return for the 25-year-old will be most welcome.
