A section of Newcastle United fans have heaped praise on Kenedy following his performance in the club’s 2-1 defeat against Tottenham this Saturday lunchtime.
The 22-year-old has returned for a second loan spell at St James’ Park this season, and made his second competitive debut for the Toon after arriving from Chelsea earlier in the summer transfer window.
The speedy flyer ran riot in the midfield this afternoon, causing problems to the Spurs’ backline throughout the match, with comments including “what a talent he’ll be in a few years.”
Nothing but Newcastle has rounded up some of the best tweets below:
Kenedy eh? Some player man! Almost too good for us. Yet we’re losing ‘cause we can’t defend set pieces – our forte last year. Hmm. Spurs winning by being average. I nearly ate my words @JoseluMato9 – well taken goal but we need more teeth now #NUFC. @salorondon23 or Muto please

Disappointing to lose the first game of the season but we showed real signs of promise! Kenedy is absolute quality! Glad to have him back for another season! #NUFC

Barring that notable first touch from Kenedy, he was absolute flames

Nah I don’t think we did either mate. Deserved a draw I think. We just lack quality and it’s quite clear. Loving Kenedy what a talent he’ll be in a few years!

OPINION
Following Kenedy’s performance this afternoon, it is easy to see why the fans’ are buzzing about what he could potentially achieve this season. He had a good first game for United, but it is that miss that could have levelled the game at 2-2 that is sure to be an important talking point amongst the supporters. The young ace had the chance to score after being one-on-one with Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, but he missed the chance after not taking the best touch. He was a maestro in the midfield today and certainly caused the Spurs’ defence to have a few headaches, and this alone will get the fans excited and out of their seats. United have a reason to be ecstatic after the Chelsea loanee’s display, and it will help the fans keep positive about the season that lies ahead for them. His game on Saturday was one of the best we have seen him put on in a Newcastle shirt – and fingers crossed he replicates that form in their second game against Cardiff.
