Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden wants his future at the club settled quickly after a move was blocked in this summer’s transfer window, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reports on its website that the enforcer has been left in “limbo” after handing in a transfer request this summer, which was blocked even though Hayden cited personal reasons for wanting to leave.

The Magpies are said to have insisted that he was a part of their plans this season, but the 23-year-old was not named in the squad that took on Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

With Championship sides still able to secure loan deals, it is said that former top flight sides Stoke and Aston Villa are keen, while a move abroad is also a possibility, but United are said to have so far knocked back approaches made for their player.

He will wait to see if he is included in the squad for the clash with Cardiff City, but he is set on sorting out his future at St James’ Park imminently.

OPINION

Newcastle are treating Hayden rather unfairly here – they blocked a move because they insist he is still a part of their plans, but they fail to name him in the match day squad that faced Spurs. They need to resolve his future as quickly as possible, as it is not fair on him to not know what his future holds at the club. He obviously wants a move due to personal reasons, and United should be respecting this, even if they do want to keep hold of him. Benitez clearly does not view Hayden as a first teamer this season, and he should be making every effort to ensure Hayden gets the outcome that he wants. No player wants to be left out of the side regularly, and moving to either Stoke or Aston Villa will provide him with the football he craves nearer to his family. United need to sort out this problem quickly and respect Hayden’s wishes.
