Bournemouth striker Joshua King is firmly in the running to sign for Newcastle United, according to Football Whispers.

The football site claim that the 5’9″ (source: Transfermarkt) Premier League hitman has a good chance of ending his three year spell with the Cherries by heading to St James’ Park.

The 26-year-old, who has 33 caps for Norway under his belt, netted nine goals and laid on further three assists for Eddie Howe’s side in 34 appearances last season, to help preserve their top-flight status.

Football Whispers gathers transfer rumours from across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening out of five, with King being rated 3.1 out of five to sign for United.

OPINION

With Newcastle likely to land West Brom striker Salomon Rondon, the fact that Joshua King is in the running to sign for the club will be great news to the fans. Yoshinori Muto has already signed for the Toon, and the potential combination of these three attackers is sure to make Newcastle fans drool. They would be capable of racking up a high amount of goals between them, which is just what boss Rafa Benitez needs to ensure survival in the league. King netted nine goals last season, which is not the largest tally, but combined with the other two forwards, that could potentially rise if he made the move to Tyneside. The future is looking bright for Newcastle with this trio possibly lining up for them in the new campaign, which would be bittersweet considering that they have had hardly any backing from owner Mike Ashley.
