Newcastle United must swiftly hike the price they’re willing to consider selling Jamaal Lascelles for as offers will continue to come flying in for him.

The 24-year-old centre-back is clearly one of the club’s prized assets as not only is he one of their most consistent performers, he is only set to continue to get better given his age.

Lascelles is a fantastic centre-back that any Premier League side would be lucky to have and this is what causes clubs to keep being linked with making a move for the defender.

The centre-back has shown fantastic leadership qualities at the Magpies through his role as captain and has impressed in the 51 Premier League appearances he has made for the club so far.

It’s near impossible to name a centre-back as talented and as experience in England’s top-flight as Lascelles who is also under the age of 25.

According to the Daily Mirror the Magpies will not listen to offers under £35million and while that seems like a lot of money to hold out for given Lascelles’ talents and the other inflated prices on the transfer market, that price mark will still see clubs try their luck.

The 24-year-old has no shortage of admirers already as the Mirror’s report refers to West Ham recently making a £25million bid for him and the  London Evening Standard previously claimed that Everton, Tottenham as well as Chelsea were chasing his services.

Lascelles will continue to have offers flying in for him as other options on the market provide less value.

For example West Bromwich Albion currently value 28-year-old Craig Dawson as being worth £20million, as reported by the Daily Mailwith Swansea City also currently demanding £20million for Alfie Mawson (Source: Wales Online).

While Lascelles’ current value is higher than both, a £15million difference gap isn’t a true reflection of how much better he is then either option.

This leads to clubs trying to make a move for Lascelles as that can see that he is worth splashing an extra £15million on in comparison to chasing after players like Mawson or Dawson.

Therefore this means for the Magpies to stop seeing offers arrive for Lascelles anytime soon then they need to swiftly hike his price tag as teams will continue to pursue him until they do.
