On-loan Leicester City striker Islam Slimani may have squandered his final chance of earning a permanent move to Newcastle United this summer, after being charged by the FA for allegedly kicking out at Craig Dawson in the 1-0 defeat to West Brom.

The Algeria international signed on-loan from the Foxes in January but initially saw first-team opportunities limited due to injury problems – and the potential of a suspension could bring the end to his short stint at St. James’ Park.

While Slimani has the option to appeal the charge, the video evidence is damning and Newcastle could find themselves without the striker for their three remaining Premier League matches this season, against Watford, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Slimani, 29, has made just four Premier League appearances for Rafael Benitez’s side since his move earlier this year, with three of those coming as a substitute – adding up to just 131 minutes of football for the Magpies.
