Newcastle United are set for a busy summer as Rafael Benitez seeks to bolster his squad ahead of another campaign in the Premier League next season and his side’s interest in a highly-coveted international has been confirmed.
Alexander Manyakov, the agent of 21-year-old Russia international Aleksandr Golovin, has told Russian press that the Magpies are interested in his client – and he’s hoping to get a deal tied up before the World Cup next month.
“Alexandr Golovin needs to leave (CSKA Moscow this summer). As far as I know, there are offers from Premier League clubs but not from the Top 6 six. I know that Southampton and Newcastle are showing an interest but he has a contract with CSKA.”
Golovin has also been linked with Arsenal ahead of the summer window but the quotes suggest no advances have been made yet for the attacking midfielder, bolstering Newcastle’s hopes of securing a deal.
