Newcastle United are set for a busy transfer window and the club’s achievement of securing their Premier League status for another season means that Rafael Benitez can start preparations early – and a club director is looking to take advantage of that.

Belgian outlet DH report that Anderlecht director of football Luc Devroe is keen to sit down with loanee goalkeeper Matz Sels immediately, as he attempts to thrash out the details of a potential permanent move this summer.

Sels has become surplus to requirements at St. James’ Park, with Newcastle happy to sell if their valuation of around €5m is met, but Anderlecht will have to negotiate a wage reduction in order to sign the 26-year-old permanently.

Newcastle have no place in the squad for the former U21 international, especially with the Magpies looking to negotiate a permanent deal for current loanee Martin Dubravka – and a sale of Sels could help fund that move.
