Rafael Benitez’s fine performances with Newcastle United have certainly not gone unnoticed, with the Spaniard attracting plenty of suitors as his future on Tyneside remains up in the air.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss is set to negotiate a new deal with the Magpies this summer but is seeking financial assurances ahead of his planned transfer activity, which may be an issue due to the ongoing takeover talks.
As such, there’s a very real danger that Benitez could eye a move away from St. James’ Park and plenty of speculation has arisen this week claiming that Napoli want to bring him back to Italian football, as they fear losing Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea or Arsenal.
The Sun now claims that Benitez has already identified his first transfer target if he moves to the Stadio San Paolo, suggesting he’s eyeing Chelsea outcast David Luiz as a potential replacement for highly-coveted defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
