Newcastle United’s fine performances this season have certainly not gone unnoticed and the Magpies’ battles may now be set to focused on keeping key figures at the club, including highly-rated manager Rafael Benitez.

The experienced manager’s future remains under speculation, though he’s currently negotiating a new deal with the Magpies, and links have emerged suggested he could be on the move, with Arsenal and Napoli touted as potential destinations.

Newcastle are determined for him to stay though and midfielder Christian Atsu has become the latest player to urge the Spaniard to remain at St. James’ Park, as he spoke of the squad’s support for their boss to Sky Sports.

“We need him to stay because we love working with him, the fans love him, the board love him. We are giving him all the support and we are hoping that he will stay and will be with us for many years.”

“Without him, things would have been difficult. We worked so hard all season, we had a great manager, and the fans were behind us in each and every game, home and away. We have 52,000 fans supporting us and we are so happy for the supporters, so proud of ourselves too, that we are staying in the Premier League.”
