Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez must gamble on signing Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge as the once prolific Premier League star can come good again with the right guidance.

Daily Mail reported on Saturday that the forward was due back at the Reds in May and was planning on reviewing his options in order to try and revive his career.

The attacker clearly knows that his career has seen better days and that he needs to make a change in order to get it back on track.

Sturridge had a terrible time while on loan at West Bromwich Albion in the second half of the recently ended season, as he only managed to feature just six times for the club.

The forward’s spell was ravaged by his usual injury problems that have seen fall from grace relatively quickly in English football, despite him being one of the brightest talents to have feature in the league in recent seasons.

However Sturridge is clearly as determined as ever to reach the pinnacle of football once again and Benitez, who has a knack for managing players correctly, could help the 28-year-old get there.

Goal previously stated that the Reds could look to sell the attacker, and given his recent woes, he will no doubt be able to be snapped up for a low price as there would be little competition for his signature.

If the Magpies could get him on reasonable contract, such as one that relied heavily on appearance bonuses, he would be worth gambling on.

The centre-forward has scored 75 goals in 200 Premier League outings across all the top-flight clubs he has played for in his career, and no one loses an eye for goal like that.

Sturridge may not have been prolific in his recent spell at the Baggies, but he can be once again with the right guidance and a bit of luck.

Therefore Benitez must gamble on signing the 28-year-old who reportedly wants to revive his career as his signing would payoff if he was able to stay fit for just enough games to regain his confidence.
