Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has led his side valiantly this season, with the Magpies battling for a top-half finish after a superb turnaround during the second-half of the campaign.

The Spanish boss is aware that the challenges at St. James’ Park are far from over though and he’s eyeing a wealth of business in the transfer market at the end of the season, as he seeks improvements on an inconsistent forward line.

Joint top-scorers Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle have just five goals each this summer and The Sun claims Benitez is seeking to add further strength to his attack with the addition of Benfice ace Franco Cervi, who is rated at £20m.

The 23-year-old Argentina talent is attracting plenty of interest from within the Premier League, as the report claims Newcastle will have to fight top-flight rivals West Ham, Brighton and Swansea in the market.

Cervi has been ever-present for the Portuguese side this season, making 27 starts for Benfica in the league.
