Newcastle United’s stellar rise up the Premier League standings has not gone unnoticed, with a number of their squad being linked with moves away from St. James’ Park.

Amongst those attracting interest is in-form Spain ace Ayoze Perez, who has scored three goals in as many games and has recently been linked with a summer switch to join Europa League-chasing Real Betis in his homeland.

Speaking about the interest, Benitez has confirmed that sides across England and Europe have held an interest in Perez and added that the club would not be able to hold onto the 24-year-old if he became more consistent.

Quoted by The ChronicleBenitez said:

“Obviously we know he has talent and he has quality, but he has to be more consistent.”

“If not, if he was more consistent, maybe he’d be scoring 20 goals a season and he wouldn’t be here. We’d have teams from Spain or England knocking on the door and asking for him.”

“At the moment, we have teams asking for him, but still we can enjoy him because he’s a player who has plenty of room for improvement, and he’s working hard, and is keen to learn.”

Perez recently admitted he came close to joining Tottenham a few years ago, whilst Manchester United were also linked with his services.
