It’s been a turbulent season back in the Premier League for Newcastle United, as the Magpies have struggled for consistency and faced continued speculation regarding the future of the club’s ownership.

A corner seems to have been turned in 2018 though as the Tyneside outfit have pushed themselves four points clear of the relegation zone, putting themselves in a good position heading into the stern clash with fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town after the international break.

One man who’s enjoyed a stellar upturn in form since the turn of the year is Senegalese international Mohamed Diame, who’s battled back from the fringes of the first-team to become a crucial player in the heart of midfield alongside Jonjo Shelvey.

Quoted by Chronicle Livethe 30-year-old discussed his improved form and stated his desire to continue impressing for the remainder of the campaign and beyond.

“When you’re in good form, you want to keep going, and the break can be a bad thing. It’s good to keep going and play game after game and training after training and keep the same attitude and the high fitness.”

“I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s what I wanted to since the beginning, but unfortunately, it couldn’t happen, so now I’m trying to enjoy it a lot better. I need to make sure that I stay at a high level.”

Diame has made 25 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring two goals in the Premier League.
