Newcastle United are set for a major overhaul in their development squad this summer, after what has been an awful campaign for the club’s U23 side.

A host of reserve players have already been released to make way for new talent but their remains some assets that Newcastle are keen to keep hold of, including 17-year-old full-back Adam Wilson.

Wilson has impressed the club’s academy this year and has made a number of appearances for the club’s U23 side, now looking likely to become an important player in the rejuvenation of the reserve ranks this summer.

As such, Chronicle Live report that Newcastle are keen to secure the teenager to a new two-year deal and want Wilson to follow in the footsteps of under-23 regulars Luke Charman and Cal Roberts, who have both recently signed new deals.

Wilson, called-up by England’s U18 side this season, could prove to be a valuable asset for Newcastle moving forward as Rafael Benitez’s senior side remain short of options on the left-side of defence.
