Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez faces a difficult task this summer, as he looks to bolster his side ahead of what will hopefully be another campaign in the Premier League.

The Magpies entered this week’s international break with a four-point advantage over the relegation zone and will seek to increase that margin in the final months of the season, before investing in a rebuild when the market opens this summer.

Whilst there will be plenty of names linked with a move to St. James’ Park, fans will also have to prepare themselves for departures on Tyneside and it seems the future of one defender has already been decided by the club.

Per a report from The Northern EchoNewcastle have no plans to keep Massadio Haidara and this is partly why Benitez is exploring the possibility of signing Luke Shaw from Manchester United- as he’s severely short of options on the left-side of defence.

25-year-old Haidara joined Newcastle in 2013 from Nancy but has made just 37 league appearances during that time, whilst he has just one FA Cup appearance under his belt this season.
