Newcastle United have endured a turbulent season on their return to the Premier League, as the Magpies have faced battles on and off the field.

Mike Ashley put the Tyneside club up for sale at the start of campaign but the hope of securing a deal before Christmas swiftly fell away, with the uncertainty on Newcastle’s future continuing into the January window and beyond.

There is still no end in sight for the future of the club and the chances of Mike Ashley remaining in charge for next season are extremely high, which is a concern for fans due to the mismanagement of the club during the past decade.

However, Chronicle Live state Ashley does have the stability of Newcastle in mind as he’s desperate to keep Rafael Benitez as manager and intends to sort out the Spaniard’s future as soon as possible- though Benitez has said some things need to change.

Ashley will need to promise to change the club’s recruitment picture, although Benitez is aware of the parameters in place that limit his budget- and he’s willing to work within it as long as the demands are acceptable.
