Newcastle United face a stern test ahead this month as they seek to retain their status in the Premier League and have work to do following a challenging start to the season, where Rafael Benitez’s side have lacked consistency.

Takeover talk continues to hover over the Tyneside giants and the majority of the transfer talk this month is likely to revolve around incoming deals. However, there is a strong possibility that a number of outgoing agreements will be reached.

The Chronicle states that the latest Newcastle man to be linked with an exit is 20-year-old talent Sean Longstaff, with SPL side Rangers keen to bring the youngster north of the border- where he has previously spent time with Kilmarnock.

Longstaff is set to be available on a free transfer this summer when his contract comes to a close, though Newcastle could still offer him fresh terms, and a deal will likely go ahead at the end of the campaign.

The midfielder is currently impressing on-loan with Blackpool, recently extending his deal, and his performances have not gone unnoticed with Bournemouth also said to be keeping tabs on the player who has scored four times for the Tangerines this season.
