Newcastle United remain extremely active in the final days of the January transfer window, as they seek to bolster their side for the relegation battle that lies ahead.

The Magpies sit just one point above the relegation zone and have so far landed just one new face this month, bringing in Brazilian starlet Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea, and Rafael Benitez is eyeing recruits in key areas.

One of the positions in need of improvements is in front of goal, as Newcastle have scored just 22 times in 23 league games this season, and a new name has emerged on the short-list of the Tyneside giants.

The Sun stated in it’s print edition on Sunday that Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen is attracting interest from Newcastle and Everton, who look set to battle it out for the services of the £10m-rated man.

21-year-old Bowen has scored 11 goals this season for the Tigers, helping to keep them above the relegation zone, and Hull are determined not to lose his signature- although the threat of relegation weakens their bargaining position.

Tigers boss Nigel Adkins is adamant the youngster won’t be sold though, as he said:

“I won’t sell him, simple as that. There’s a spirit here, some young, talented players and we want to build on that.”
