Newcastle United are set for a busy end to the January transfer window, with Rafael Benitez’s side set to conclude both incoming and outgoing pieces of business.

The Magpies have so far only landed the services of Chelsea starlet Kenedy on-loan until the end of the season but Benitez is intent on improving his side in key areas- and it seems midfield is one position where the Tyneside giants are looking to improve.

According to The Daily StarNewcastle have joined the chase for New York City FC’s 21-year-old English talent Jack Harrison- with the MLS side open to a sale before the closure of England’s transfer window on Wednesday evening.

Thoroughly impressing Stateside, Harrison made his bow for the England U21 side last summer and is now attracting a wealth of interest, with Newcastle’s fellow Premier League strugglers Stoke City widely reported to be in the hunt.

Both top-flight sides face competition from the Championship though, where promotion chasing Middlesbrough are also keen to bring the attacking midfield in from across the pond.
