Newcastle United are set for a busy end to the January transfer window and Rafael Benitez is remaining firm with his beliefs in the market.

According to The Chroniclethe Spanish boss has made it clear once again that Newcastle will not sanction a sale of Jonjo Shelvey to West Ham, with the Magpies determined not to approve a sale to a direct Premier League rival.

The Hammers have been linked with the services of the 25-year-old England international throughout the mid-season window and there has been some suggestions that Newcastle could listen to offers, due to their financial situation.

However, despite the fact that Benitez has limited funds available to sign his own targets, the experienced Spaniard has made it abundantly clear that he will not approve a sale to a side who, like Newcastle, are fighting to avoid relegation.

Benitez has strengthened his side this week with the addition of Kenedy on-loan from Chelsea and his business is far from complete, with the Magpies eyeing at least two more players and likely to see some members of their squad leave Tyneside.
