Newcastle United are facing a busy period in the next six weeks, as they fight to rise out of the relegation zone and look to bolster their squad in the New Year.

The Magpies face a lot of speculation and rumours regarding incoming deals but there is also likely to be outgoing activity too, as the Tyneside outfit look to raise their January funds and reduce the wage bill at St. James’ Park.

The Sunderland Echo reports that Newcastle have offered the services of Jack Colback to Sunderland, his former side, with Newcastle deeming him to be surplus to requirements as they seek to capitalise on the vast interest in his services.

Colback, on around £40k-a-week, may be too expensive for Sunderland to secure but a loan deal is an option. However, the likes of Leeds, Derby, Bristol City, Reading, Wolves and Hull City are also keen on his services.

It seems likely that Colback is more than certain to leave in the New Year and the Championship seems to be the probable destination.
