Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles say is eager to make his return to action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The Englishman, who was hotly tipped for an international call-up earlier in the season, injured his foot last month and has been a sorely missed figure in the Magpies defence since his knock.
The Tyneside club have lost three and drawn one of their four matches in their captain’s absence to slip to 15th in the table.
Lascelles however has returned to training, and is approaching an overdue return, and the skipper says he cannot wait.
“I trained for the first time this week… I will see how I get on,” Lascelles told the club’s website.
“It’s hard to watch especially when the team is not doing great. “I feel responsible. I am trying hard to get back as soon as possible and fingers crossed it can be Saturday.”
Newcastle take on Leicester City at St James Park on Saturday.
